Mark Plaatjes, RPT, Physical Therapist, Shoe-Fit Expert
Mark is a renowned physical therapist who has been helping Boulder runners run healthy for more than 25 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Pre-medicine from University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa (1984) and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand (1987). Mark continues to stay on top of all of the latest research and treatment options by taking continuing education courses and attending conferences every year. He became licensed in Systemic Integrative Dry Needling from Dr. Lin-tau Ma in 2008. When treating active individuals, Mark understands how important it is to get back moving and works aggressively toward that goal.
A former world-class distance runner, Mark has won more than 20 marathons in his life, including the 1993 IAAF World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany—one of his first races representing the U.S. Although he no longer runs competitively, he continues to run and coaches a small group of runners called Gijima. He also enjoys playing golf with his wife, Shirley.
