Kara Goucher

Kara Goucher was a breakout star a the University of Colorado between 1996-2001, winning three NCAA titles (3,000m, 5,000m and cross country). On Aug. 25, 2007, she won the silver medal in the 10,000-meter run at the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan, raced for the U.S. in the 2008 Olympics in the 5,000m (9th) and 10,000m (10th) and in the 2012 Olympics in the marathon (10th, 2:26:07). She also placed fourth in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles, narrowly missing her third Olympic berth. Her 2:24:52 marathon PR (Boston, 2011) ranks her eighth on the all-time U.S. list. Kara was inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame in 2017. (Photo: Courtesy of Motiv Running)
