We’re proud to support the Sunset Trail Running Festival in the foothills of Boulder on Sept. 22. The event will include a 50K, heavy half marathon (14.5M), 10K, 5K and kids 1K. All race proceeds will benefit the Fourmile Watershed Coalition and Fire District.
The Sunset Trail Running Festival offers a scenic tour of Boulder County and runners will enjoy varied terrain of dirt roads and trails, running through ponderosa pine and aspen forests, while taking in amazing views on this challenging course. The 50K and heavy half marathon start in Gold Hill head west on the old railroad grade which is now known as the Switzerland Trail and run through the historic townsite of Sunset. The rails were removed 100 years ago, but the route is an ideal place for running through the scenic foothills.
The 50K will begin at 7 a.m., while the half marathon starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K and 10K begin at 11 a.m., while the 1K Family/ Kids Fun Run starts at noon. After the races, celebrate your accomplishment with your family, friends, and fellow participants at the post-race party. There will be food, a beer garden and live music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Sunset Trail Running Festival is a promotion of health, fun and fitness while supporting a tax exempt organization/ partner, the Fourmile Watershed Coalition and Fire District. The Fourmile Watershed Coalition, local Fire Districts and other partners are working to increase the health and resiliency of our forests by restoring natural conditions through strategic thinning, prescribed burning, reforestation in burn areas and education. Healthy forests are more resistant to wildfire, help to preserve clean drinking water supplies, offer diverse habitat and are a vital resource to those who recreate in them.
